The Thin Line Between Laughter And Tears

The Thin Line Between Laughter And Tears

As you might have heard by now, NBC has announced plans to renew all three of its Law & Order series: Law & Order: The Original, Law & Order: Sex Crimes & Christopher Meloni, and Law & Order: Vincent D'Onofrio Stammers.

But the network plans to relegate L & 0: Criminal Intent to the USA Network, which means that you'll have to dig a little deeper into your cable box the next time you want to see creatively cast dramatic recreations of stories that have been painstakingly ripped from the headlines–like, say, this recent episode featuring Kristy Swanson (the original Buffy) as a woman who bears a purely coincidental resemblance to Anna Nicole Smith, and David Cross as a man who bears a purely coincidental resemblance to Howard K. Stern:

That clip exists at the crossroads of so many things: fact and fiction, laughter and tears, serious acting and inspired ridiculousness, Chris Noth and David Cross, and, of course, drama and (mostly unintentional) hilarity.
