The Tonight Show has its worst summer ever

The decision to replace Conan O’Brien with Jay Leno on The Tonight Show has resulted in a 23-percent loss in viewers in the all-important 18-49-year-old demographic. It’s also made for the worst summer ratings the show’s ever had—even that memorable year when Ed McMahon began instituting “No Pants Thursday.” However, it’s not all dire news: Leno had a 12-percent increase over O’Brien’s total audience—just not the audience that advertisers want—and whaddayaknow, even with his decreased numbers, he’s still beating Letterman.
