The trailer for Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark: It's quite possible the title is luring you into a false sense of security

Below, your first look at the Guillermo del Toro-produced big-screen redo of the 1973 TV movie Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark, one of the least likely candidates for remakes transformed into a film that actually looks pretty cool. And when we say “first look,” we really mean “first fleeting glimpse”: Unlike some more recent trailers we could name, this teaser doesn’t give very much away. What we do know is that it features Bailee Madison as a young girl who moves into a spooky old Victorian house with her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes), only to accidentally unleash a race of malevolent DelToronoids—or, if you’d prefer to make fun of Katie Holmes, evil body thetans—that clamber up from the basement and start scampering around and hissing and hiding in the sheets and stuff, as such things tend to do in a good, old-fashioned monster movie. Just a note that the first 30 seconds or so are ideally meant to be experienced in total darkness, so go ahead and turn off the lights, especially if you're currently working in an office with lots of other people. Trust us, they aren’t doing anything important anyway.
