The trailer for Paranormal Activity 2: Won't somebody please think of the children?
Those who caught The Twilight Saga: Eclipse last night—and who weren’t otherwise swept away by the Dionysian hormonal surge so graphically relayed by Harry Knowles—also got their first glimpse at the trailer for Paranormal Activity 2, the sequel to last year’s most talked-about/insanely profitable horror film. Judging by the few bits of original material in this quick teaser, the follow-up will be a lot like the first one, only with more cameras (this house appears to be rigged with a full-blown CCTV system) and Micah Sloat and Katie Featherston’s terrified suburbanites replaced by the unholy union of a dog and baby, whose interspecies coupling will be duly punished by even more ominous footsteps. Also, a shadowy female figure who [SPOILER ALERT FOR THE FIRST FILM] appears to be the now-demonized Featherston makes a cameo at the end, suggesting she’s on her way to becoming the “Samara in The Ring” of this potential franchise. Our totally uninformed guess: This will be the best sequel of its kind since Blair Witch 2: Book Of Shadows, with all that implies.
