The trailer for Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides: On familiar ground

Judging by the Angelina Jolie-cold response afforded The Tourist, audiences are clearly only interested in seeing Johnny Depp on a boat if he’s wearing tons of eyeliner and delivers every line of dialogue as though he’s seconds away from puking. So fine, that’s what you’ll get with the trailer for Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, debuting this weekend with Tron: Legacy.

The fourth installment in the series to which Depp will commit the rest of his prime introduces Rob Marshall as director and finally casts overboard the ballast that was the Orlando Bloom/Keira Knightley romance subplot, but otherwise things are much the same. Here Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow is in search of yet another waterlogged myth, the Fountain of Youth, and to get there he’ll have to avoid getting dragged into the depths by seductive mermaids, best Ian McShane’s Blackbeard, and contend with a barrage of Spanish insults and occasional swordplay/swordplay-as-double-entendre from Penélope Cruz. Also, zombies, of course.
