The trailer for Red Oaks season 2 heads back to the country club
Though perhaps not as buzz-y as Netflix’s ’80s homages Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp and Stranger Things, the first season of Amazon’s Red Oaks also mined the decade for humor and heartbreak, and it promises to do so all over again in the trailer for the show’s second season. Craig Roberts returns as David, a (former) NYU student who spends his summers working as a tennis instructor at the ritzy New Jersey country club Red Oaks. And having decided to abandon his plan of becoming an accountant at the end of last season, he’s as lost as ever.
As David struggles to figure out what he wants to do with his life, Red Oaks promises “fresh starts” for everyone else. That includes David’s newly divorced parents, played by Jennifer Grey and Richard Kind, as well as David’s new artsy girlfriend Skye (Alexandra Socha). Elsewhere, John Hodgman joins the cast in what looks to be a potential mentor role for the perpetually lost David. And, of course, between all the ’80s ennui, there’s still plenty of time for kickoff keggers, weed jokes, and Nash pelvic thrusts.
Red Oaks season two debuts on Amazon on November 11.
