The trailer for Sucker Punch, or, what Zack Snyder's eighth-grade notebook doodles looked like
Telling the story of a misunderstood girl confined against her will to a mental hospital, where she escapes the misery of her surroundings by retreating into a fantasy world with her fellow inmates, Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch is clearly a meditation on the slippery nature of reality and the adverse effects of institutionalization—Inception meets Girl, Interrupted, if you will. Or, just kidding: It’s actually just a ton of shit the director of 300 and Watchmen thought would look cool in a movie, like hot twentysomething girls in fetish gear battling samurais, fire-breathing dragons, giant robots, and Nazi blimps while occasionally putting down the machine guns for a Moulin Rouge dance number in their underwear. Its current tagline is “You will be unprepared;” a more accurate subtitle would be The Greatest Boner Ever Sold.
