The typewriter used to write Psycho can be yours for a cool $25,000
The Telegraph reports that the typewriter screenwriter Joseph Stefano used to write Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho is for sale. The vintage Olympia, seen below, can be yours for an opening bid of $25,000 through the Nate D. Sanders auction house, beginning November 20. The 1960 classic horror film, adapted from Robert Bloch’s novel, was only Stefano’s second screenplay, and though Hitchcock asked him to write the screenplays for The Birds and Marnie afterward, Stefano declined. Instead, he focused on writing for The Outer Limits, using this same typewriter to create a dozen of the science-fiction anthology’s episodes. So clearly, the 10,000-percent markup is justified.
