For its first album in nine years, The Velvet Teen amplified its brand of indie-pop into something altogether new. The result was All Is Illusory, a record that sounded like Pinback on speed and breathed fresh air into the band. The A.V. Club is premiering the video for “You Were The First” below; the video was filmed during a tour of Japan, and serves as a nice cap to the band’s touring in support of Illusory. The video for “You Were The First” matches the track’s frenetic energy, cutting between live shots and scenic views, matching the dual focus of The Velvet Teen itself.
