The Weeks premiere a spruced up version of “Buttons”
Formed by original members Samuel Williams and Cain and Cyle Barnes in Jackson, Mississippi in the mid-aughts, The Weeks were later joined by Damien Bone and most recently brought keyboardist Admiral Collier into the fold. Accompanying that addition was a move to music mecca Nashville and a deal with Kings Of Leon’s label, Serpents And Snakes. The band’s sound changed too, moving from a rougher breed of Southern rock to a more polished and well rounded indie-tinged production. The Weeks are committed to this direction, and have gone back to an early favorite—“Buttons” from the band’s 2008 sophomore album Comeback Cadillac—and switched it up, adding keys and creating a clean and hard hitting sound to surround the emotional thoughtfulness in the lyrics that capture the feelings of budding and brooding flirtation.
