The Who postpones its tour, because Daltrey decided to get meningitis

Showing the kind of wanton disregard for its fans that a band literally on a tour called “The Who Hits 50!” really should have grown out of, The Who has postponed its much-ballyhooed North American tour. And the reason is the height of disrespect: singer Roger Daltrey has decided he would rather contract a serious case of viral meningitis than perform for the band’s devoted fans. Sure, he may sound sorry, but you can read between the lines.

We are very sorry to disappoint our fans in this way. For the last four weeks, I have been in and out of the hospital and have been diagnosed with viral Meningitis. I am now on the mend and feeling a lot better but I am going to need a considerable time to recover. The doctors tell me I will make a complete recovery, but that I should not do any touring this year.

All the missed shows are being rescheduled for the spring of 2016, and tickets for the original shows will be honored for the new dates, which will be announced soon. That is, if Mr. Too-Good-For-Us Daltrey doesn’t decide he’d prefer to deal with a crippling case of shingles instead. All remaining 2015 shows by the band are canceled.
