The world is changing on Mr. Robot

The world is changing on Mr. Robot

Here’s what’s up in the world of TV for Wednesday, November 8. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

Mr. Robot (USA, 10 p.m.): After a slow start to the season, Mr. Robot has been steadily building momentum, with everything in the narrative leading inexorably toward the much-discussed “stage 2.” Judging by the ads for tonight’s “presented without interruption” episode, shit—to paraphrase the estimable Mr. Lawrence—is about to get real.

Regular coverage

Survivor (CBS, 8 p.m.)
Riverdale (The CW, 8 p.m.)
Modern Family (ABC, 9 p.m.)
Designated Survivor (ABC, 10 p.m.)
South Park (Comedy Central, 10 p.m.)
You’re The Worst (FXX, 10 p.m.)
Broad City (Comedy Central, 10:30 p.m.)

Wild card

Hot Date (Pop, 8 p.m.): Exec produced by Will Arnett, this new half-hour comedy is based on a Collegehumor web series of the same name. (Hey, don’t hold that against it—Broad City started basically the same way.) It’s a warped look at dating, sex, and marriage, with stars Emily Axford and Brian K. Murphy playing multiple characters in the world of relationships. No idea if it’s any good, but tonight’s hourlong premiere gives you the first two episodes to judge for yourself.
