The writers behind Neighbors are making a horror movie about killing teenagers in creative ways

What would horror movies do without the invention of the teenager? Without them, the world’s Jasons and Michael Myerses would have to move on to killing the elderly or something, and that’s not nearly as entertaining. Thankfully, we don’t have to live in a world without teenagers, which means we’re in no danger of horror movies running out of people who deserve to be killed simply for being confused piles of zit-faced hormones.

Now, Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O’Brien, the guys who wrote the Zac Efron/Seth Rogen vehicle Neighbors, are joining in on this proud tradition with Thrill Ride, a Final Destination-style horror movie about killing teenagers in clever ways. Deadline says it will be about the students of an especially bully-filled high school hanging out at an amusement park that the school has rented for the night. Luckily for us blood-thirsty viewers, though, someone quickly starts tampering with the rides to kill the students, and then “kids from all different cliques have to band together to figure out who the killer is and how to stop them.” We assume all of the standard cliques will be represented in that Avengers-style team-up, including the nerds, the jocks, the freaks, the geeks, the greasers, the goths, and the people who still refer to groups of similar high school kids as “cliques.”

Cohen will direct Thrill Ride, with O’Brien producing. The script will be written by Peter Warren, who was a writer on MTV’s Happyland. As of right now, we don’t know if Neighbors co-star Dave Franco will make an appearance, but come on. He’s perfect for this.
