The Wu-Tang Vs. The Golden Phoenix trailer: Clan in the front, dialogue in the back
When we first learned that RZA’s Eli Roth-aided directorial debut would be the inevitable manifestation of the producer/MC’s lifelong obsession with kung-fu flicks, we never really expected that he’d be following his muse quite so literally. [UPDATE: Oops. It turns out this is a whole 'nother project. Our mistake!] This just-released trailer for Wu-Tang Vs. The Golden Phoenix reveals that the RZA, the razor, plans to hit us with a major homage to all of the kung-fu genre’s tropes, right down to its deliberately cheap, grindhouse color palette and the total eschewing of dialogue in order to make room for as many acrobatic fight scenes as possible. Also, RZA shoots purple lightning from his hands, which makes us wish this were actually Wu-Tang Clan's version of Kiss Meets The Phantom Of The Park. That would be particularly bong bong, etc. Wu-Tang Vs. The Golden Phoenix doesn’t have an official release date yet, but the trailer promises it's "coming soon." [HT to Vulture]
