The X-Files unveils the secret of Skinner's past
Here’s what’s up in the world of television for Wednesday, February 7. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
The X-Files (Fox, 8 p.m.): Last season’s mythos-heavy episodes of The X-Files were notably worse than the stand-alone entries. But whether it’s the expanded episode order this year or simply a creative rebound, the 11th season has done a much better job toggling between the show’s complicated history and its monster-of-the-week outings. This episode promises to delve into the murky waters of Skinner’s past, and our own Zack Handlen will be there to see how deep the conspiracy goes.
Regular coverage
Riverdale (The CW, 8 p.m.)
The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story (FX, 10 p.m.)
Wild card
Channel Zero: Butcher’s Block (Syfy, 10 p.m.): The third season premiere of Syfy’s horror anthology series arrives with a reliably unsettling premise, again borrowed from the world of Creepypasta: a pair of sisters move to a new town after experiencing traumas, only for strange things to begin happening in their supposed safe haven. The second season was better than the first, so here’s hoping it continues that upward trend in quality.
