The xx release a visualizer-packed app for its latest album

The xx's signature style of placing a male voice and a female voice in conversation with one another may be simple, but the band's marketing strategy sure isn't. To promote its latest album, Coexist, the band has released a free interactive app for Apple and Android products that includes music videos, tour information, lyrics, a visualizer, news updates, and some kind of interactive album art. This is presumably to encourage people to buy the album rather than steal it, since you need to own a digital copy of the album to access the visualizer and, really, who doesn't go apeshit for visualizers?

The xx is on tour in Europe now and will be back in the U.S. in 2013. Dates are below. [via Pitchfork]
