Thee Oh Sees have a new album coming out, because they cannot sit still

Back in 2013, we reported on the sad news that superb psychedelic garage-rock band Thee Oh Sees was going on indefinite hiatus. At the time it seemed the band was completely burnt out on the frenetic pace of records and touring they had maintained over the previous decade, and it was unclear whether the group would ever be back. Of course, that lasted all of five months, at which point Thee Oh Sees returned with a solid new record. And now, as should be expected, they are coming out with their next album, because the band is constitutionally incapable of taking a breather.

Titled Mutilator Defeated At Last, the album will be released on May 18 via Castle Face. Leading up to the new record, Thee Oh Sees will be playing a series of shows in Texas, including a number of SXSW sets. The end of May will see them on a European tour, and no dates for an American tour have been announced as of yet. But given the group’s track record, it’s doubtful they can hold out for long.
