There are now two "female Expendables" projects in the works

Having jokingly suggested the idea of making a female version of The Expendables titled The ExpendaBelles, only to see someone actually do exactly that, Millennium is now scrambling to reclaim its, let's say, intellectual property by developing an officially sanctioned lady-spin on its action movie star franchise/refuge. The company has now hired Legally Blonde writers Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith to write the film that will actually be titled ExpendaBelles—two decisions that suggest just how seriously they plan to take the premise of showing "the feminine side of the mercenary business" (i.e. just short of making it about a crack commando team sent to infiltrate a clearance sale, yamIrite fellas?) Though of course, as with the original Expendables, the tone of the movie will mightily depend on which female action stars it can land—and with the competing film already stealing away Haywire's Gina Carano and Katee Sackhoff, it seems this has the potential to turn into an all-out battle, or at least the lady version of one.
