There can be only one to star in that Highlander remake, and apparently it's Ryan Reynolds

Passing through centuries of rewrites, forced to watch as the screenwriters and directors who once loved it withered and died and went on to other things, Neal Moritz's Highlander reboot remains strangely immortal, as the producer continues his efforts to remake the 1986 fantasy about why it's so hard to kill Scottish people. Now Moritz may have finally found his kilt-filler in Ryan Reynolds, whose inexplicable survival to see another huge leading man role despite dying a thousand box-office deaths makes him uniquely suited to the material, except in all the ways that have stuff to do with the character and story.

Of course, like the world around the Highlander himself, which shifts according to mood of the next Queen song, the project is still in a constant state of flux: Variety's latest report makes no mention of the "yearning" punch-ups recently done by Twilight's Melissa Rosenberg—attributing it instead to original writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, also of the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot—and it’s now attached to 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, who will take this rehashed tale of undying supernatural love as consolation for losing The Crow remake. And of course, Reynolds himself is said to be "weighing other offers and could still pursue another project," which may or may not be influenced by the general reaction that the most singular man in the universe could be played by its most ubiquitous.
