There’s a Kurt Cobain solo album coming this summer

In an interview with Bedford + Bowery, the director of the Kurt Cobain documentary Montage Of Heck, Brett Morgen, claims that this summer will see the release of a new album of Cobain rarities. During the creation of Montage, Morgen uncovered more than 107 cassette tapes Cobain made before his death in 1994, which range from jam sessions with his wife Courtney Love to demos of his band Fecal Matter, and “a lot of silly spoken word stuff and not-silly spoken word stuff like the story he told of losing his virginity.” Morgen stresses that “it’s not a Nirvana album,” but rather a loose collection of solo recordings he likens to “hanging out with Kurt Cobain on a hot summer day in Olympia”—something you could only do previously by hanging out with this weird statue.
