There’s a little bit of truth in this 21-minute X-Files featurette

We’ve got less than a month left before The X-Files returns for a six-episode “event series” on Fox, which means there’s a little bit of information to be gleaned in a new 21-minute behind-the-scenes featurette released in YouTube earlier this week. In it, we learn that the new series will be a mix of mythology and monster-of-the-week episodes, there will be a lot of action, and that everyone thinks Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are super cool. So, yeah, nothing groundbreaking. But we also get to see X-Files superfan/guest star Joel McHale as perfectly named conspiracy nut Tad O’Malley, his fellow newbies Rhys Darby and Kumail Nanjiani, a neat Creature From The Black Lagoon-style creature, and creator Chris Carter teasing that an alien spacecraft that crashes in the first episode “may or may not be Roswell.”

The X-Files returns to Fox on Sunday, January 24, and will air Mondays at 8 PM ET/7 PM CT after that.
