There’s Alot Going On on Vic Mensa’s new EP
INNANETAPE rapper and former Kids These Days member Vic Mensa has released a new EP, titled There’s Alot Going On, which is out today. Mensa—a frequent collaborator with artists like Kanye West and Chance The Rapper—is currently giving the seven-song album away for free, in exchange for a pledge from the listener to vote. Featuring album art showing Mensa as the target on a firing range, the album has a decidedly political vibe. (One of the tracks, “16 Shots,” is a direct reference to the death of Chicago teen Laquan McDonald, who was killed by police officers in 2014.)
So far, Mensa—who’s been performing as a solo artists since 2013— has stuck exclusively to mixtapes, EPs, and contributions to other rapper’s songs. He’s expected to release his debut album, Traffic, soon, through Jay Z’s Roc Nation label.
