There’s been some criminal behavior on the Criminal Minds set lately

Today’s tale about the onset antics of irascible talent comes not from the Fast 8 production, but from CBS (although there’s still plenty of time for more colorful insults from ex-wrestlers). Variety reports that Criminal Minds star Thomas Gibson displayed some conduct unbecoming a pretend-law enforcement official. The actor, who previously played a recovering yuppie on Dharma And Greg, threw a fit and kicked a producer while on set, resulting in his suspension from one or two episodes of the show. The altercation has reportedly also cost Gibson an upcoming directing gig on the long-running (despite not being a Law & Order show) crime procedural.

Gibson has apologized for his behavior, which, while not being held against him in a court of law (yet), is assault and therefore criminal behavior, which is how we ended up with that headline. In a statement, the actor said “there were creative differences on the set and a disagreement. I regret that it occurred. We all want to work together as a team to make the best show possible. We always have and we always will.”

This isn’t the first time Gibson’s lost his temper on set—Variety notes that he got into a similar scuffle with someone else on the show “a few years back.” Maybe he should have followed Mandy Patinkin’s example and left the show before all the fake serial killer-profiling got to him. But now we know he doesn’t deserve to work with Paget Brewster again.
