There’s crime, adventure, and farts on the open road in Pee-wee’s Big Holiday
We already knew that Pee-wee’s Big Holiday would be observed in March, but now Netflix has released a trailer for the latest (in almost 30 years) adventure of the bow-tied, seemingly ageless boy/man. In it, we see that Pee-wee Herman’s (Paul Reubens) mostly content to stay in his hometown and, by extension, a rut. But after he bonds with a mysterious, hunky stranger (Joe Manganiello) over chocolate milkshakes, Pee-wee’s filled with wanderlust and regret, having never traveled anywhere or had “two women fight over him.” So he hits the road in a VW bug, where he picks up bank thieves played by Alia Shawkat and Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Stephanie Beatriz, stumbles upon a snake farm, impresses a dozen or so farmer’s daughters, and then lets a few balloon farts rip while in an Amish community.
Directed by John Lee (The Heart, She Holler; Wonder Showzen), Pee-wee’s Big Holiday premieres March 18 on Netflix.
