Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Monday, August 21. All times are Eastern.

Great American Eclipse (Science Channel, special presentations at 1 p.m. and 9:02 p.m.): Pitting two comic-book adaptations against the biggest (and only) star in the solar system hardly seems fair, that’s just Jesse and Jessica’s bad luck, we guess. The Science Channel has most of your eclipse-watching needs covered (except for viewing glasses). It’s airing two separate presentations of the Great American Eclipse, as well as a related special subtitled First Contact at noon.
But viewers like you can also keep tabs on this natural phenomenon courtesy of PBS’ Nova series, which will air its own special, titled Eclipse Over America, at 9 p.m. And if you’re down with OTT, there are plenty of places, including Facebook and YouTube, to livestream the event that—while not as rare as say, a visit from Halley’s Comet—is still pretty damn cool. American Dad (TBS, 10 p.m.): It’s taken 14 seasons and two networks to get here, but on tonight’s episode of American Dad, Klaus and Roger will give into the sexual tension that’s always flickered between them and start a secret romance. Actually, they fall into it because they’re paired up by a dating app, but whatever the case, it’s happening. Yes, the relationship has a portmanteau name, and yes, it doubles as the episode’s title: “Kloger.”
