There’s still nothing scarier than a little girl in the Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension trailer
The trailer for what is supposedly the last Paranormal Activity movie, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, has arrived. And based on its convoluted mythology, maybe it’s best that the franchise is being sent to the other side before things can get even more complicated. With a box full of prophetic VHS, a clunky camcorder equipped for “spirit photography,” and an ominous priest—all callbacks to previous installments—The Ghost Dimension is clearly designed to answer any lingering questions people who like the Paranormal Activity movies enough to sit through six of the damn things may have.
But it doesn’t answer the questions at the core of the franchise, namely: What makes little girls and VHS tapes so spooky? Is it the long hair? The nightgowns? The fuzzy analog static? Will burned DVDs replace VHS in horror movies once that technology becomes obsolete as well? These questions may never be answered—at least not in this movie. But good for the protagonists for not throwing away their VCR. Not everything is on Netflix, you know.
