There will be at least one more Amy Winehouse record, if not two
Like Tupac before her, the late Amy Winehouse may live on by releasing new material. Amy's father Mitch Winehouse recently told BBC 6 that there are plans to release at least one more posthumous record, if not two. "There are loads of covers, loads of them," he says, "but the problem is that we don't want to rip anybody off. When her fans are so precious to us we don't want to put out dross"—or "crap," in non-British terms. Winehouse’s first posthumous record, Lioness: Hidden Treasures, was released in December and debuted at number one on the charts, selling 194,000 copies in its first week.
Amy Winehouse also recorded several duets and collaborations before her death, including “Cherry Wine” with Nas, which will be included on his record, Life Is Good, due out July 17. That track hit the web this week, and you can check it out below. Pete Doherty, another notoriously messed-up British rocker, is also using some lyrics Winehouse wrote on his next solo album, which doesn’t yet have a release date.
