There will be at least two more Cabin Fever movies, neither of which have anything to do with cabins
There are those who may have assumed that the 2007 straight-to-video sequel Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever—a film that even its director, Ti West, wanted no part of—effectively killed any hope that Eli Roth’s sort-of-cult mordant homage to ’80s horror movies could be wrung out into an franchise where each iteration bore less and less relation to the original. These people are adorable, and they should put on some little mouse ears and go frolic and then maybe have some cocoa. That’s because not only is there definitely another story to be mined from the premise of a flesh-eating virus that mostly affects the horny, The Indomina Group has announced plans for two more Cabin Fever movies, which will be shot back-to-back in the Dominican Republic, where Indomina is based, and where cast and crew can enjoy some nice, hearty stews after a hard day’s shoot. World Series winner Albert Pujols is also from there, and now the Dominican Republic also has this going for it.
Jake Wade Wall—whose previous experience with rehashing horror franchises includes recent remakes of The Hitcher and When A Stranger Calls—will write the first of these, Cabin Fever: Patient Zero, which visits the origins of said virus when a cruise ship collides with an abandoned research vessel in the Caribbean. Cabin Fever: Outbreak—to be written by fellow franchising enthusiasts Adam and Deborah Marcus (the upcoming I Walked With A Zombie remake and Leatherface 3-D)—will presumably pick up from there, following a doctor who travels with his family to investigate the viral outbreak on a Caribbean island and tries to prevent it from becoming a worldwide epidemic. And again, neither of these films have much to do with the original Cabin Fever, but why make a movie called something else when the Cabin Fever name is just sitting there, and some people remember it?
