There's a live LCD Soundsystem record on the way
LCD Soundsystem will release a live album of its final show at Madison Square Garden. That’s according to frontman James Murphy, who told Rolling Stone that the music will sound a little different than it did in the film of that same event, Shut Up And Play The Hits. Says Murphy, “The film is mixed digitally, because you have to watch it in a theater and make little adjustments all through for a four-hour film, whereas the record is just mixed analog to tape, the way I normally do.” There’s no timetable for the record’s release yet, but Murphy says the whole process has taken “forever,” citing his band’s lack of a label as a reason for the delay.
Don’t hold your breath for an LCD Soundsystem reunion any time soon, though. In the same interview, Murphy told Rolling Stone he intends to spend the immediate future building a new studio, where he’ll make a new solo record.
