There's a Monster Squad documentary, and obviously it's called Wolfman's Got Nards

Shane Black’s The Monster Squad fell through the cracks upon release in 1987, overshadowed by The Lost Boys and its far sexier take on “teens fight monsters” action. But the film’s blend of Little Rascals “kids and their dog get into scrapes” comedy with the classic Universal monsters—and a surprising willingness to get a little gory and nasty in the process—has resonated with fans for years, giving it a thriving cult following who all know what Wolfman’s got. (It’s “nards,” FYI.)

Seeking to capitalize on and document this unexpected tide of fan fervor, there’s a new documentary coming out soon, titled, fittingly, Wolfman’s Got Nards: A Documentary. The film looks to be a pretty even mix of both sides of the Monster Squad cult phenomenon, alternating gushing fan commentary with interviews with several of the film’s principles, who seem uniformly baffled by the fact that a movie that disappeared within seconds of its initial release has now inspired zines, T-shirts, and weeping testimonials about the ways we’re all in a Monster Squad, when you really stop and think about it.
