These faux Little Golden Books are adorable

Little Golden Books are not just for kids. The beautifully bound books continue to line the pockets of adults at Random House after their acquisition of the series in 2001 for $85 million. Since the release of the first 12 books over 70 years ago, some titles have actually become very collectible, as evidenced by this enlightening eBay article. One book, The Poky Little Puppy, has sold around 15 million copies, making it one of the all-time bestselling hardcover children’s books in the U.S. (Good boy, Poky.)

Though he’s in no way affiliated with the Little Golden Books, last year artist Joey Spiotto transformed a bunch of pop culture icons into illustrations perfectly fit for the series. In an exhibit aptly titled Storytime: A Little Gallery Show, Spiotto’s art was showcased at Los Angeles’ Gallery 1988 (East). Now, Spiotto has returned with 50 brand new pieces inspired by more of his favorite films, video games, music, and TV shows. Along with being showcased in the same gallery, the artwork can be bought online. Not surprisingly, quite a few of the pieces have already sold out.
