These Star Trek Forever stamps will live long and prosper

Congratulations, Star Trek fans: it’s the 50th anniversary of the beginning of your obsession, er, fandom. The first episode of Star Trek: The Original Series aired this day in 1966, and in honor of the milestone, the U.S. Postal Service debuted a series of snazzy Trek-themed stamps. Appropriately, they’ve got a retro, pop art vibe that nods to the age in which the series originated. Your letters can now proudly display a Starfleet insignia or a silhouette of a Vulcan salute. It’s almost worth getting back into snail mail as another way to pay tribute to your passion (we said almost).

The stamps were unveiled on September 2 as part of that weekend’s Star Trek: Mission New York convention. “With the chaos in today’s world, hopefully the stamps and what they signify can inspire a better future for us all,” Walter Koenig, who originated the role of Chekov, said via a press release.
