They Might Be Giants’ new compilation album Idlewild comes out this month, and to promote it, the band held a contest to make a new video for “Am I Awake?” off of its 2004 album, Indestructible Objects. The three winners were just officially announced, and—while two of them are predictably silly and weird—the third deserves special attention for just how downright off-putting it is. Reminiscent of Internet classic Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared, the video features a murderous puppet typewriter, which boasts only a “Z” key, devouring various puppet limbs and faces. It’s disturbing, creepy, and it fits the tone of the song perfectly. Watch the whole thing below.
