Thieves run (so far away) after stealing $70,000 worth of A Flock Of Seagulls' gear
A Flock Of Seagulls just had $70,000 worth of gear run (so far away) from their van in Downey, California. The gear—which the group says included at least three hand-built or customized guitars, and several hard drives containing frontman Mike Score’s new solo album—was stolen along with the band’s van, which was parked overnight outside a Comfort Inn. (Why the band didn’t take important stuff, like custom guitars or irreplaceable hard drives, inside with them is anyone’s guess.)
KTLA has surveillance video of the gear being stolen by someone in a dark SUV. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the gear or van (a white 1999 Ford E-350) is asked to call the Downey Police Department. And lest this thievery totally devolve into mere jokes about ‘80s bands, let this incident at least serve as another reminder that touring bands need to lock their shit down tight.
