Things are heating up between Paul Schrader, Nicolas Cage, and their producers

Paul Schrader is fighting with the producers of his new movie The Dying Of The Light, which, to be fair, isn’t all that unusual for Paul Schrader. Last month, Variety spoke with Schrader and Dying executive producer Nicolas Winding Refn, who claimed that the film’s producers decided to override Schrader’s rough cut of the film and were finishing it themselves, transforming it into something completely different from Schrader’s original vision.

Well, apparently the argument has escalated, because Nicolas Cage—who isn’t really in a position to piss off producers—has joined Schrader, Refn, and his co-star Anton Yelchin in a silent(-ish) T-shirt-based protest of the film, posted yesterday on Schrader’s Facebook page:

A non-disparagement clause, for those blissfully ignorant of the realities of the contemporary job market, prevents employees or ex-employees from publicly voicing their dissatisfaction with their employers—with their mouths. (T-shirts are a loophole, apparently.) It is not to be confused with the document that Jimmy Johns sandwich artists have to sign.
