This Is Us and more won big at last night's GLAAD awards

Last night the 29th annual GLAAD Media Awards were held in Los Angeles, and along with fulfilling the salutary purpose of presumably irritating the shit out of Mike Huckabee (frankly, it’s odd he didn’t try out one of his signature painful-joke tweets—“I’ll be GLAAD when this show is over,” or some such—during the event), the organization handed out some prizes. The Media Awards “recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of the LGBTQ community and the issues that affect their lives,” as well as helping to support GLAAD’s mission to promote stories that help push for equality.

NBC’s tearjerker drama This Is Us took home the prize for Outstanding Drama, while Brooklyn Nine-Nine picked up the award for Outstanding Comedy Series. The Lena Waithe-penned “Thanksgiving” episode of Master Of None won for Outstanding Individual Episode, and the Disney Channel’s Andi Mack claimed top prize for Outstanding Kids & Family Programming. The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons was awarded the Stephen F. Kolzak award, given to “an LGBTQ media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting LGBTQ acceptance.”

The complete list of winners—including a well-deserved win for the lovely drama A Fantastic Woman for Outstanding Film in Limited Release—can be found at Deadline.
