This Is Us spends the night in “The Waiting Room”

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Tuesday, March 12. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

This Is Us (NBC, 9 p.m.): It’s rare that there’s an episode of This Is Us in which not much happens. But even by Pearson family standards. Here’s our own Caroline Siede on last week’s episode, “The Graduates”:

To borrow a term from Rebecca Pearson, there sure is a whole lot of friggin’ stuff that happens in this episode… In the present day, Toby throws an over-the-top party to celebrate Kate’s graduation from community college. Meanwhile, back in 1998, the Big Three celebrate their much more somber high school graduations, just four months after Jack’s death. (Randall is valedictorian of Hanes Academy, while Kevin and Kate earn their diplomas from McKinley High.) Elsewhere, Kevin’s alcoholism spirals out of control, a conflict at Deja’s school potentially inspires a crisis in Randall and Beth’s marriage, and—most dramatically—Kate goes into preterm labor at just 28 weeks. Like I said, it’s a lot.

This episode seems destined to be no less a lot:

Presumably focused on those desperately hoping for information in the titular waiting room, this week’s This Is Us doesn’t seem likely to be lacking in drama. Caroline Siede will recap, once she’s pulled herself together.

Regular coverage

The Flash (The CW, 8 p.m.)

Wild card

Corporate (Comedy Central, 10:30 p.m., second season finale): We’re big fans of Corporate ’round these parts, and as yet, Comedy Central has not renewed the series for a third season. So while we’d be watching anyway, we’re going to be watching extra hard in hopes that the powers that be can feel our viewership. Join us, if you can.
