We don’t know a lot about Sherlock season 4, even after parsing the recently announced episode titles. Even the first teaser wasn’t all that illuminating, though it did warn us that the game was “over.” The latest promo is briefer still, but it also drives home the point that this is not a fucking game, you guys. Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Watson (Martin Freeman) might have had lots of fun the previous three seasons—Moriarty, in particular, was a scream—but when they’re sitting, glowering at each other in a flooded living room, it means they are not playing anymore. They’re going to get serious about this detective business, and not a moment too soon with the premiere of Sherlock season 4 coming early next year.
