This post has “Suicide Squad spoiler” tattooed on its forehead

Warning: This article contains a minor spoiler for Suicide Squad. It’s not going to give away the ending or anything, it’s just a little bit of news about a DC Comics character who was recently added into the narrative during reshoots. Of course, some people are probably going to get mad because they now know that there’s a DC Comics character in the movie full of DC comics characters. But, to be honest, there’s already a scant percentage of people reading this who are angry at us for having spoiled that there are things worthy of being spoiled in the movie. So, unless we’ve already ruined your life—or you simply don’t care that much about minute plot details—maybe don’t read past this point.

Anyway, if you’re still here, you might be interested to learn that writer-director David Ayer has found room in his anti-hero tentpole movie for The Flash, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Audiences got a brief and unsatisfying look at Ezra Miller as the classic speedster in Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn Of Dispiriting Solemnity back in March. Last week, though, the character was put on more prominent display in the Comic-Con trailer for Zack Snyder’s Justice League, in which Miller actually gets to inject some levity into this dour shared universe.

Miller’s newly inserted cameo will apparently pop up in the course of the story proper, as opposed to that annoying post-credit nonsense Marvel Studios likes to pull. His part obviously can’t be more than an entertaining curlicue on the pre-existing narrative, but based on what we’ve recently learned of the character, it sure has the potential to be fun. Suicide Squad finally makes it into theaters everywhere August 5.
