This Instagram “style challenge” accomplishes a few different things: It showcases the breadth of animation styles out there; it provides a platform for emerging artists to show off their work; and it offers a glimpse of far more diverse cartoon characters than we’re used to seeing. The simple premise asks artists to draw a collection of self-portraits, each in the style of a different cartoon character. It’s sort of like when every one was Powerful Girl-ing themselves, but more involved.
The challenge was started by a 17-year-old artist named Autumn Massaquoi on her Instagram beautifulness87. Since then, it’s become a major success and she’s being linking to other artists’ work via her Instagram page.
