Because 3-D cannot be expected to save the movie industry all by its lonesome, the hilariously named D-Box Technologies has swooped in with another suggestion for how to get people back into theater seats: Make those seats vibrate with “motion effects.” In 50 select theaters, this summer’s premiere of J.J. Abrams’ Super 8 will also see the debut of the D-Box Motion Code seat, which pitches, shakes, and otherwise immerses the modern moviegoer in the on-screen action while also being totally distracting.
