This teaser trailer confirms that the live-action Cinderella will have a glass slipper

The newest teaser trailer for Disney’s live-action Cinderella reveals that, yes, there will be a glass slipper. The minute-long preview showcases the crystalline footwear—first in close-up, then in a wide shot—accompanied by some lovely, swelling music. While there’s not much else to go on, this does seem to confirm that Disney will be sticking with the aesthetic of its 1950 animated version, rather than the original, Grimm version, where the slippers were made of silk and silver. (And also where the stepsisters cut off parts of their feet, before having their eyes pecked out by birds.)

Notably not featured in this trailer is anyone from the film’s cast. That includes Lily James as Cinderella, Richard Madden as Prince Charming, Cate Blanchett as the evil stepmother, and Helena Bonham Carter as the fairy godmother. There is, however, a butterfly that lands on the shoe, only to be promptly turned into glass. It’s probably best to take that as a charming special effect, and not some literal indication that this shoe kills anything it comes in contact with. The Kenneth Branagh-directed Cinderella hits theaters in March 2015.
