This year’s Oscar nominees really should’ve had Will Smith rapping over the credits
Nostalgia can make anything seem sweeter than it really was at the time, but it’s hard to argue with the assertion that movies were simply better when more of them had Will Smith rapping about the movie during the end credits. Granted, it only ever happened a handful of times, but the simple idea that the end of a movie might transition into another killer jam from Will Smith was arguably more exciting than even the most impactful post-credits stinger from Marvel.
To return us to that glorious era, Demi Adejuyigbe (of Gilmore Guys fame) has created Will Smith Raps The Oscars, a three-song collection of tracks written and performed by “Will Smith” that should’ve been included at the end of some Oscar-nominated films. Here’s “Alien Arrival” for Arrival, and you can hear “Hacksaw Rap” and “Whoo!-light” at this link.
