Thom Yorke wants to lull you to sleep with this bedtime playlist
If Radiohead puts you to sleep, you’re in luck. Thom Yorke teamed up with BBC Radio 1 to put together a “bedtime mix.” The curated collection plays out in one long stream and it includes Radiohead’s “Melatonin,” Yorke’s live solo performance of “Bloom,” Holden’s “Triangle Folds Inside Out,” Laurie Spiegel’s “The Unquestioned Answer,” and William Winant’s “Trackings I.” The whole thing kicks off with a robotic intro that explains:
I spend a lot of time listening and writing music while half-asleep, music that evolves quietly and slowly like the weather, like nature. Machinery bending time—I love that shit. If you’re still awake by the end of it, I’ve done something wrong. Night night. Lights out.
The playlist is only about 30 minutes long, which means York doesn’t quite cater to his more insomniac listeners who need a little longer to fall asleep. But those who want to give it a shot can access the playlist for the next 29 days over on the BBC website.
