Three never-before-heard Richard Pryor albums have been discovered
In a press release, satellite radio service SiriusXM has announced that it’s putting together a celebration of comedy icon Richard Pryor later this month on the Comedy Greats channel, with the event including remastered versions of Pryor’s entire stand-up discography, an “original audio documentary” hosted by Ron Bennington, and—most intriguingly—three never-before-heard stand-up albums from Pryor that will be available to the public for the first time ever on SiriusXM. The long-lost albums were apparently discovered by Pryor’s wife, Jennifer, among a “treasure trove of material kept in his old storage units.” The first of the three new albums, Live At The Roxy, will premiere on SiriusXM on May 25, followed by Live At Casa Comedia on Jun 1, and then Live At The Ice House (which features some material Pryor was working on before taping his Here And Now special) on June 8.
The audio documentary, Richard Pryor: A Life In Comedy, will also premiere on June 8, and it features new and old interviews with famous comedians like Kevin Hart, Tracy Morgan, Joan Rivers, Patrice O’Neal, and Jay Mohr. The remastered album streams will begin airing on May 21.
