Tickets for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s last Hamilton show are going for a whopping $20,000
The end of Hamilton’s run on Broadway is far from over. In fact, the show will soon expand its reach, launching a Chicago residency and embarking on a national tour. However, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s days playing the title character in the musical he wrote are coming to a close. Miranda will give his last Hamilton performance—for now, at least—July 9 at 8 p.m. Leslie Odom Jr. (a.k.a. Aaron Burr) and Phillipa Soo (a.k.a. Eliza) will also be bidding farewell to the production at that time. Surely, it will be an emotional night, even more so than a normal production of Hamilton, which is bound to leave some audience members sobbing. And you can go, too—but only if you’re willing to fork over a lot of cash. We mean a lot. Like, how does $20,000 sound?
Slate investigated what tickets to watch Miranda teach them how to say goodbye are going for, and Stubhub had a pair at the ludicrously expensive price of $20,000 a pop. At present, Ticketmaster has some for the still insane amount of $5,715, though it seems like the $7,587 ones Slate found have sold. Enjoy the show, folks.
For those that can’t shell over thousands of dollars, here’s footage of Miranda’s final Ham4Ham show.
