Tig Notaro is getting her first HBO comedy special
Cementing its place as the greediest of all premium cable networks, HBO has decided that an article about Game Of Thrones, Veep, and Silicon Valley getting premiere dates and an article about Real Time With Bill Maher getting picked up for two more seasons aren’t enough articles about HBO. That’s why the network has also made third announcement today, forcing us to write another article about HBO. According to Variety, that announcement is that comedian Tig Notaro will be getting her very first HBO special.
Michael Lombardo, HBO’s president of programming, referred to Notaro as “a comedian’s comedian,” and said that he’s happy the network “will be able to introduce this remarkable performer to a larger audience.” Not to brag about how totally hip The A.V. Club is, but we did choose Notaro’s Live—a raw, emotional gig recorded shortly after Notaro was diagnosed with breast cancer—as the best comedy album of 2012. Variety predicts that the special will cover similar ground, and it will reportedly be filmed later this year.
