Tig Notaro taking her podcast on the road
Comedian Tig Notaro is still basking in the glow of unexpectedly tragic yet triumphant 2012, a year that saw her lose her mom and get seriously ill but also perform a legendary set that became the basis for the year’s best comedy album. With that business firmly behind her, Notaro has been writing for Amy Schumer’s new comedy central show, Inside Amy Schumer, and recording her weekly podcast, Professor Blastoff. The former debuts next week (you should definitely watch it), and the latter is hitting the road.
Notaro and co-hosts Kyle Dunnigan and David Huntsberger are hitting 15 cities starting Saturday in Phoenix and concluding in Portland in mid-May. The conceit of the podcast involves an old scientist trapped in the space-time continuum, but really it’s just a chat about a central theme they find interesting, usually based in science, philosophy, or theology. The most recent one is about cars, but others have included statistics, polyamory, and for fans of one of Notaro’s famous bits, an episode with Taylor Dayne on the theme of reconciliation.
Notaro’s also doing a few solo stand-up dates among the Professor Blastoff ones, so check out the full schedule is below.
