Tila Tequila has been suspended from Twitter for pro-Nazi tweets
The unfortunate story of internet celebrity Tila Tequila has taken another weird and unwelcome turn today, with news coming that the internet star has been suspended from Twitter for a number of tweets supporting Nazism and the alt-right movement. The final straw appears to be a picture the Vietnamese-American performer posted of herself at an alt-right gathering, giving a Nazi salute and captioned with “Seig heil!”
Tequila has been posting openly racist rhetoric for some time now, with comments like “I’m a white supremacist” and pictures that seem to show her wearing a Nazi armband at Auschwitz flooding her social media accounts since at least 2013. She’s been in a bizarre downward spiral for even longer than that, though, including drug addiction and the death of her fiancee. Tequila first came to the public’s attention after she became the most popular person on MySpace in the mid-2000s; she went on to star in two seasons of MTV’s reality dating series A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila.
