Tim and Eric have a very weird new series designed to help you sleep better
Purple is a mattress company and they want you to sleep well. This is because, if you sleep well, you’ll be spending more time enjoying their products. To accomplish this noble goal, they’ve enlisted absurdist comedians Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim to produce a series of videos in their signature gonzo style that are, in theory, supposed to help you get to sleep. In character as Quirky and Geno Purple—a.k.a. The Purple Boys—Tim and Eric clue you into some of their “zonk strategies” for relieving anxiety and ridding yourself of the “Sunday Scaries”—that feeling of dread we all have the night before a busy work week.
Like Absolut Vodka and GE before them, Purple seems to have realized the best marketing strategy in the internet age is to throw some money at Tim and Eric and just let them do whatever the hell they want. From what we can tell, that’s exactly what this is going to be. It has all the hallmarks of classic Awesome Show, including purposefully shoddy green screen effects and appearances from amateur actors straight out of Central Casting. Hopefully, this series will continue to build out the weird world of these bizarre brothers in their never-ending search for “sleep you can count on.”
The first video launches today on Facebook, with new videos being posted to the Purple Boys page every two weeks. Goodnight!
